V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University and Kharkiv National Medical University, in partnership with Oxford-Kharkiv Association, invite students, academics, researchers and all those interested to an open online lecture by Professor Lord Lionel Tarassenko of the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford, and President of Reuben College.
This lecture is part of the Oxford–Kharkiv academic lecture series, which strengthens academic links between Oxford and Kharkiv.
Digital technologies are increasingly transforming healthcare — from smartphone applications and wearable devices to systems based on machine learning and artificial intelligence. How can these technologies help identify deterioration in patients earlier? What role can apps and wearable devices play in the management of long-term conditions? And how might artificial intelligence shape the future of healthcare?
During the lecture, Professor Tarassenko will explore the development and practical application of digital technologies in medicine, including patient monitoring, early detection of deterioration and the management of chronic conditions. The lecture will be followed by a Q & A.
Lionel Tarassenko is Professor of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford and founding President of Reuben College. His research focuses on signal processing, machine learning and digital technologies in healthcare. He has played a major role in the development of biomedical engineering at Oxford and previously served as Head of the Department of Engineering Science. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Academy of Medical Sciences, and a life peer in the House of Lords of the British Parliament. Professor Tarassenko is also a member of the Oxford-Kharkiv Association.
